How Modern Construction Gained Time, Efficiency & Growth with DCA

Managing subcontractors is a vital part of operations for Modern Construction, a trusted leader in commercial construction and nationwide facility maintenance based in Charlotte, North Carolina. 

With annual revenue exceeding $9.5 million, the company faced a significant operational challenge: its subcontractor process was time-consuming and inefficient. Hours were lost converting files between formats and juggling updates across disjointed systems and too many people, leading to frustration and project delays. Senior leaders needed a third-party operations expert to assess the challenge - and address it quickly. 

DCA team members quickly identified the subcontracting process as a key area for improvement. We worked closely with Modern Construction to streamline operations by introducing a centralized solution—fillable forms on a unified platform. This eliminated the need for file conversions and cut down on back-and-forth communications, creating a smoother, more efficient workflow.

We didn’t stop there. To ensure long-term success, we trained Modern Construction’s team to take full ownership of the new system, bringing the process back in-house.

The impact was immediate and easy to measure. The time required to bring subcontractors on board was reduced from four hours to 20 minutes, giving employees valuable hours back to focus on what they do best. Morale soared, productivity increased, and the company expanded its capacity to take on more projects.

These fleshed out case studies offer a clearer picture of what things were like before DCA and how they improved after, including client quotes and metrics of success.
